2013 Spring Intersectional Regatta

Jacksonville University again hosted the SAISA 2013 Spring Intersectional Regatta on Saturday, March 9, 2013. Racing was held on the St. Johns River, just off the campus shoreline. Nine schools competed in one division. Wind was at 7-12 knots, and the average wind direction was from the northeast, but we had 90 degree wind shifts every couple minutes, north, now east, back to north, wait, it's east again, etc, etc, all day long! Add to that a strong tidal current for most of the day, and the sailors saw some challenging conditions. Everyone sailed well though, and all 18 races were completed on Saturday with no protests. Tampa Jesuit took top honors with 10 bullets. The top Inland/Coastal team was School of the Arts, and they have secured a berth in the 2013 ISSA Great Oaks Regatta to be held at SYC in New Orleans in November.
