O’Day Field is Set

Today in every corner of the district, five qualiftying regattas were held to determine who would qualify for slots in the NESSA Fleet Racing Championship for the George O'Day trophy

In Portland, ME, the 8 school fleet completed 5 races in each division.  Yarmouth HS (ME) [26] was victorious. Falmouth HS (ME) [31] and St John's Prep [33] also qualified for the O'Day.

In Marblehead, MA  Manchester-Essex RHS (61) energed victorious, followed by Milton Academy (76), Moses Brown (77), and BB&N (81).  The 12 schools completed eight races per division.

In Marion, MA, the 10 school fleet completed the required 10 races/division.  Tabor Academy (66) topped the field followed by Cape Cod Academy (76), Martha's Vineyard RHS (77), and Sharon HS (78) who all qualified too.

In Newport, RI, St George's school (25), Portsmouth Abbey (38), North Kingstown HS (55) and Rogers HS (58) all qualified.  The site completed 7 races/division and had 11 schools in attendance.

In Lakeville, CT, the breeze only allowed the required three races/division.  Hotckiss (8) emerged as the leader. Darien HS (17) and Brunswick School (17) tie for the other two qualifying slots.

 

The O'Day Finals are tomorrow Sunday April 27, 2014 at the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT.  The top four at the O'Day qualify for the ISSA Fleet Racing Nationals for the Clifford Mallory Trophy being sailing out of the San Diego YC on May 9-11, 2014.  Good luck to all the teams
