The SAISA Caribbean Championship was held January 21, 2013 at the St. Thomas Yacht Club. St. Croix Country Day School, the Peter Gruber International Academy, and the Antilles School each fielded an A and B Division team. Eight races were completed in each division in Cowpet Bay in St. Thomas. The wind was coming out of the east, and the beginning of the day saw lighter winds around 10 knots, with the winds building throughout the morning and reaching 15 knots by the last four races. The races consisted of windward-leeward courses twice around with a gate as the leeward mark and a downwind finish, 420s were rotated in both divisions following each race.
The Antilles Team won the event, placing first in each division. The St. Croix Country Day School finished 2nd, and the Peter Gruber International Academy 3rd.
Thanks to Shep Barrows, Nick Bailey, Rob Upson, and Thomas Barrows for running the racing committee, setting the course, and ensuring a smoothly run and efficient regatta.
