2007 Fall Newsletter

Greetings NESSA Members,

Fall Regatta Schedule: The tentative fall 2007 regatta schedule is now posted on the NESSA website. (http://nessa-sailing.org/race.htm). Click on the individual Notice of Race (NOR) to read the complete details for each event.  NORs for other events may be sent to Rob Hurd (RSHurd@hotmail.com) for posting.

* Great Oaks Regatta Reminder. The NOR for the Great Oaks will be posted on the ISSA website soon. (http://highschoolsailingusa.org/future.htm).  When you read it, you will see that the regatta’s eligibility requirements.  NESSA schools can qualify by being the first eligible school, who has not already qualified, at one of the four qualifying regatta*. (Polar Bear Open, Arnold Brown Invite, Casco Bay Fall Open, NESSA Fall Funfest).


NESSA Membership: Your school must be a 2008 NESSA member to compete in NESSA Championship events, like the Healy Trophy.  To check your school’s membership status, renew your membership, or become a NESSA member for the first time, connect to this link (http://nessa-sailing.org/membership.htm) and follow the directions.

NESSA Trophies.  Holders of NESSA trophies are reminded of their responsibilities under Article M of the NESSA by-laws.  (http://nessa-sailing.org/bylaws.pdf) Greenwich HS & Greenwich Academy are the present holder of the Healy Trophy, Tabor Academy has the Mark Trophy, and St. George’s School holds the O’Day Trophy. Martha’s Vineyard presently holds the Leslie trophy

Agenda items for the 2007 Annual Meeting should e-mailed to NESSA President Rob Hurd (RSHurd@hotmail.com) before noon on Friday October 26 2007.

Mallory 2010. NESSA is slated to host the 2010 Mallory, to be sailed on the second weekend in May 2010. Schools interested in hosting the 2010 Mallory should submit bids to NESSA President Rob Hurd by November 1, 2007.
